Join the Nolumbeka Project, Adventure East, and the Connecticut River Conservancy for a paddle in observance of the 10th Annual Pocumtuck Homelands Festival: A Celebration of Native American Art, Music, and Cultures. Jonathan Perry and members of the Wampanoag Aquinnah will paddle the traditional dug-out mishoon crafted as part of the 2019 festival and first launched in 2020. The Wampanoag will be joined by other Indigenous crafts and crews.

The celebratory procession will depart from the Barton Cove Campground and Canoe Rental in Gill MA, and proceed up the Connecticut River approximately 3 miles. We will stop for lunch on the return leg at the beach above the Narrows, before returning to the point of departure.

This paddle requires approximately 3 hours of paddling on the Connecticut River. Conditions might include waves from boats, reversing currents due to hydro storage pumping, strong headwinds and unmarked debris. Prior paddling experience is encouraged.

This is a free event but registration is required. Bring your own boat or borrow one (courtesy Adventure East).
