Volunteer

Volunteer and tire Want to get involved?  Our watershed work depends on people willing to step up, volunteer, and dive into CRWC projects.  We would love your assistance and expertise.  Some of our needs are tidy, like data input, cataloguing, and phone-calling; others are in-the-field situations—river cleanup work, water quality testing, and setting up for special events.  You’ll have the satisfaction of helping improve our great river system, and you’ll receive the honest gratitude of our busy staff.  Plus, there’s reason to believe you’ll have a little fun while doing it.

We will send information about volunteer opportunities via email as it becomes available. If you would like to begin receiving volunteer updates, please complete the following form to tell us a bit about yourself and your intersts. This information is for in-office use only, and will not be sold or used in any way without your permission.

Thank you for your help and we look forward to working with you.

Current Volunteer Activities - Please check as many as you want:

Join friends and neighbors, or become a group leader, to remove trash from waterways and shorelines in all four states.

Collect water samples one day a week, typically weekday mornings, from the CT River and tributaries from May through October in central and northern MA. Sampling follows a strict schedule and training is required.

Join a network of vigilant observers on the lookout for pollution, invasive species, erosion and other threats in a portion of the CT River’s VT/NH reach. Training required.

Work with CRWC staff and landowners to monitor CRWC conservation easements that protect water quality and species habitat on privately-owned lands.

Occasionally we have outdoor projects that require a team of volunteers, such as trail maintenance, fish surveys, and invasive plant removal.

Help us make new friends and get to know existing friends better. Host an outreach party/event in your community where CRWC staff introduces our programs and invites feedback.

Talk to school groups about the CT River and CRWC. Represent CRWC at events, distributing publications and information. Training provided.

Pitch in stuffing envelopes to get out big mailings, sending update sheets to property owners, or other helpful tasks, at our Greenfield, MA, headquarters.

Briefly describe strengths, skills, services or equipment you have to offer:

Availability - Please specify how often you would like to volunteer, such as weekly, monthly, or on specific events:
