Membership FAQs
How much does a CRWC membership cost?
Annual CRWC memberships start at $35 and go up from there. In truth, no membership donation is too small, and we are always glad when people support our work with a donation. Members who are able often give $50 - $200. Still others support us with annual membership donations of $500 or even $2500. It all adds up and, as we are a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, it is tax deductible. We are grateful to anyone who donates, and always thrilled to enroll new members.
What is the difference between a "membership" and a "donation"?
When you make a donation to CRWC you become a member. In addition to an annual membership gift, some of our members choose to make additional donations throughout the year. It could be we are working on an issue near and dear to your heart and you want to show your support with a special gift or perhaps you want to take advantage of the tax benefits of charitable giving. Whatever your reason, we'll put your gifts -- both membership and special donations -- to good use.
What does a CRWC membership “buy”? Currents and Eddies; Annual Reports
For starters, it buys you our sincere gratitude for enabling us to move forward with our watershed protection work. Beyond this, members are mailed copies of our newsletter, Currents and Eddies, published spring, summer, and fall. You’ll also receive a copy of our detailed Annual Report each winter, complete with updates and features on the year’s accomplishments and finances. Members also get a CRWC sticker/decal for display on the car or a prominent window.
Are there other member benefits? Email Updates and our Annual Meeting
All members are invited to sign up for CRWC's Email Updates. You can be among the first notified about significant developments in our river protection work. These may be news-making actions or decisions concerning the Watershed Council, or information about developing issues that we feel members might want to be informed of. Caution: Updates might inspire you to take action on a river issue!
All current members are invited to attend CRWC’s Annual Meeting, held each summer in a different section of the Watershed. Annual meetings are informative, enjoyable, and take place at lovely venues along the river.
What about the Watershed Council’s Library?
Members have access to CRWC’s extensive library collection at our Headquarters. The library contains watershed-related reports, hardbound books, and mountain of information about the River, its systems, hydro, nuclear, and wastewater impacts, etc. Most items can circulate to members with permission. An appointment is required to use the library, as it is regularly used for our own meetings and research. Please give a call if you would like to use our library. (413) 772-2020, ext. 207.
Are there river recreation opportunities?
The Watershed Council co-leads several paddling trips along various stretches of the River and tributaries during the warm months. These offerings will be announced in our newsletters and on-line. Members are given priority for sign ups.
