Media requests

CRWC appears in the media regularly. Sometimes our actions drive a news story. At other times our expertise is called upon for commentary on issues affecting aquatic environments. We welcome inquiries from the media, and view them as opportunities to interface thoughtfully with the public. We make every effort to have facts, resources and responses available whenever people call—whether it’s the public, the media, or an organization or elected official. We are here to share what we know. If we don’t know something, we’ll tell you that too. Just as likely, we can find out and get right back to you.

Media resources

If you need immediate information, the best path to us is the telephone: (413) 772-2020. If there is not a looming deadline, you can email specific members of our staff, including the Director and the River Stewards for each state. Our website is a great resource for background information, as well as specific facts. Here you can view in-depth information on CRWC’s campaigns and sign up for RSS feeds of press releases and news.

Sign up for our Updates

When an environmental issue crops up fast, we want the public to know. It may be related to habitats or aquatic environments, or possibly something legislative that has bearing on the watershed’s future. We sometimes receive river-related news through the river network before the media is aware of a developing story. It’s at these times that we send out our Email Updates to inform members and the public. We are happy to have media representatives sign up for our Updates. We want everyone to understand the Watershed Council’s perspective.

Links to our reports and fact sheets

Our newsletters, published columns, and annual reports are available on-line.  They contain good background material on past and more recent issues.  However, a number of watershed initiatives and campaigns are complex and ongoing.  If you can't find what you are looking for, give us a call.
